Velour Lashes: Don't Pull the Fur Over Our Eyes

Two weeks after being exposed for making “cruelty free” claims which it refused to verify, Velour Lashes has made some shady updates to its website. On social media, Velour Lashes also went to the trouble of deleting every single comment made to its Facebook page that asked for evidence of its "free-range” mink fur farm (or zoo?) supplier.

While these deletions and swift website updates are practically an admission of guilt, it is unacceptable that up until two weeks ago, thousands of Velour Lashes customers had been sold a sleazy “cruelty free” promise which was likely groundless, and moreover that the company has yet to accept any public accountability.

Note under 6), of its FAQ page, Velour Lashes is still claiming that its fur is “humanely sourced” despite refusing to reveal its sources. In the United States, "humanely sourced” or “humanely raised” is not a USDA-approved term, thus these claims should be accompanied by an explanation of what is meant.

So, Velour Lashes, if you’re reading this, you may want to remove that phrase too.

Here are 3 more actions you can do today to speak up for farmed animals used for their fur:

1) Write a comment on Velour Lashes Facebook page, or tweet @velourlashes Example: @velourlashes how is your mink fur “humanely sourced”? Customers have a right to know. #TruthInAdvertising
2) If you know of any companies or stores selling mink fur eyelashes and/or eyebrows, tell them you won't be buying anything from them again until they withdraw these items from sale.
3) Find out which brands are certified cruelty-free via the Leaping Bunny logo here.
