Lab Grown Meat to Hit Shelves by 2018!
If there is one thing people love, it’s a good juicy burger. Veggie burgers have been increasing in popularity, but some die-hard carnivores haven’t been assuaged by alternatives… until now. Surely you have heard of “lab-grown meat” as its release grows ever nearer.
Companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods have been working tirelessly to make a “meat” that doesn’t come from farmed animals, yet isn't made directly from plants. And just recently, Hampton Creek Foods caught everyone by surprise by announcing that it too has been secretly developing it behind the scenes. What’s more exciting, is that it expects to beat all of its competitors in development and release its version first. “By the end of next year, we’ll have something out there on the marketplace,” says Josh Tetrick, CEO of the company.
Relying on animal products puts an incredible strain on the environment and isn’t sustainable in the long run. Lab-grown food has two advantages: global food security and less animal suffering.
