We Honor Elephants as Ecosystem Builders!

Earth’s largest land mammal roams the vast savannahs of Africa consuming massive amounts of plants, seeds, bushes and trees. Elephants disperse seeds through their digestion and elimination, then many of these seeds germinate and grow, and landscapes and ecosystems are born, providing food, shelter and habitat for a multitude of other species to thrive.

A recent scientific study tracks the seed dispersal of elephants, and helps us understand how these giant herbivores are preserving the genetic diversity of tree species, and are continuously reshaping the wild world.

Read more here about the amazing effect elephants have on their environment, and what a tragedy it would be to lose such a powerful architect of nature.
