The Guardian Campaign Pledge

Dear IDA,

We would appreciate being linked to your web site and are pleased to support The Guardian Campaign in its efforts to free animals from the abuse and enslavement imposed on them by their current status as property. We are proud to make this commitment to promote a relationship of guardianship and friendship with animals rather than "ownership," and encourage the practice of rescuing instead of buying and selling.

  • We will no longer use the word "owner" or "ownership" in our literature or forms. Where we feel there is no alternative, we will put them in quotation marks.
  • We will advise and encourage our members to no longer consider themselves "owners"of animals, but their guardians and friends and urge them to adopt--not purchase--animals.
  • We will actively participate in this effort by promoting this campaign in our community and by spreading the concept of guardianship.
