Long-time publication now featured on IDA's web site

Mill Valley, CAanimalines, started in late 1978 by Ed Duvin as a series of essays committed to affirming the sanctity of life and Earth, is now a project of In Defense of Animals (IDA) and is currently available on IDA's web site at http://idausa.org/animalines/.

From its conception, animalines was intended to be an independent voice for grassroots activists looking to extend their shared vision of a just and compassionate world for all life. Through reprints and networking, activists introduced animalines to new readers in ever-growing numbers, creating an empowering voice for what we now know as the animal rights movement.

"I am very pleased that animalines will have the opportunity to reach so many new people – especially young people – through the Internet," said Ed Duvin, animalines' author and founder. "From its inception, animalines was enthusiastically embraced by the grassroots community. They formed an extended family, bringing the ideals that animalines articulated to life. Through the encouragement of IDA, I look forward to expanding that network via a new medium."

"IDA is proud and honored to be associated with animalines and its efforts to stimulate thought, dialogue and action," said IDA's President, Elliot Katz, DVM. "Ed Duvin's writings have always served as a source of inspiration, motivation and insight for me and thousands of others. I have no doubt that animalines will continue, just as it always has, to help widen our society's circle of compassion and respect for all beings, both human and non-human alike."

"Even though animalines will initially be posted on IDA's web site, it is our desire to have other progressive organizations – not just those aimed at protecting the rights and welfare of animals, but those dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of all oppressed beings – post it on their web sites as well," said Dr. Katz.
