Letter to Petland CEO Mr. Greg Hudson, CEO Petland Corporate Offices 250 Riverside Street P.O. Box 1606 Chillicothe, Ohio 45601 Dear Mr. Hudson: I do animal rescue in New York City and witness firsthand the horrors of animal overpopulation. When I return home from picking up an animal from one of several shelters in New York City, it takes me two days to recover - in time to return to pick up someone else's abandoned pet among the thousands of pets that cannot be saved and are put to death each year. Petland, the company you head, is responsible for much of this crisis. You keep the puppy mills we read about and see on TV in business. I find it hard to believe that you would choose to work in the pet industry without a love and compassion for animals. Sell pet supplies, not pets - publicly denounce puppy mills. What you lose in animals sales will be easily offset by the profits you'll see when this action is promoted in the media and animal lovers reward you with their business (and respect). You are in a position to make a very big difference. I hope you will. Sincerely, Martha Sample Zwolle, LA |
