Victory for the Animals in Greenburgh, New York
Thanks to the efforts of IDA and other local animal protection
organizations, circuses can only perform now without animals in Greenburgh, New York. Rodeos are banned entirely in Greenburgh!
On May 22, three of the five Greenburgh council members voted in support of the law. The hearing lasted over 3 hours in a chilly outdoor setting, and 51 people spoke in support of the ban. Although many opponents also spoke, it was clear that the support came from the town and surrounding communities and the opposition was just a lot of outside commercial interests - making their money off the backs of animals.
What You Can Do:
Please thank Paul Feiner, the Town Supervisor, and the two council members who voted in favor of the law, Eddie Mae Barnes and Diana Juettner.
Address:
320 Tarrytown Road
Elmsford, NY 10523
We must flood them with letters of support. Even thank you cards would be nice. This issue is controversial, and one of the council members who voted in support of the ordinance had a lot of pressure on her to vote against it - but it was clear she allowed her conscience to guide her vote.
This is a great day for the animals. Thank you all!
