Never
attend circuses that include animals! Encourage friends and family
members to only attend circuses that show the exciting talents of
human performers.
-
Write
letters to local businesses and other sponsors of the circus and ask
them to reconsider endorsing animal abuse. Let them know you don't
expect them to have fully investigated everything they endorse, but
that you would like to share with them what you know about circuses.
-
Find
out when the circus is to arrive in your town and plan on being there
with a camera, thermometer and, if possible, a video camera! Also,
be sure to document how long it takes the circus employees to unload
the animals. If there is going to be an animal walk in your town,
try to keep up with the animals. If you witness any forms of abuse
or conditions in which the animals may be suffering, please contact
your local animal control and the United States Department of Agriculture.
-
Plan
a protest and leaflet every show! Most people don't really know what
happens to animals in circuses and although children love circuses,
they hate the idea of animals being abused.
-
Try
to pass a local ordinance restricting animal acts from coming to your
area! Many cities and municipalities in the U.S. and Canada have banned
animal acts. You can pass an ordinance in your town too! Contact us
at IDA@idausa.org for more information.

Order
IDA's performing animals packet for more ideas on what you can do!

Please help fund this campaign
by giving the largest tax-deductible donation you possibly can.
If we are to be successful, we must place ads, hold press conferences, organize additional protests and produce thousands of cards, posters, flyers and brochures.
